One of Japan's largest oil and
energy companies, Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd.
was established in 1911 Idemitsu Kosan is a coporation with 38.8 billion
capatalization (April, 2004) that enjoys a major share of Japan's lubricant
market. Idenitsu's headquarters is in Tokyo and it operates five refi neries
and over 6,000 gas stations. Other Idemitsu subsidiaries are involved in crude
oil development, crude oil transportation, coal mining, and the production and
marketing of petrochemical pro ducts. Idemitsu has also established a finance
company to issue credit cards.
